The Death Knight Plague — When Acherus Went Too Far

When Wrath of the Lich King launched, Death Knights brought chaos to private servers. On Bloodveil EU, they caused server-breaking chaos.

Day One: Death Knights Unleashed

Bloodveil EU launched WOTLK with a miscalculation: Death Knights were too powerful. New DKs dropped from Acherus with full gear and talents at level 55.

Plague in Elwynn

Elwynn Forest became a disaster zone. Corpses piled up, Stormwind guards were overwhelmed, and Death Knights chain-pulled questers. Lowbies couldn’t progress, priests couldn’t rez, and hunters were stuck in revive pet loops.

The GM Response

A GM issued a zone-wide announcement: “Death Knights are NOT to enter Elwynn Forest. Violators will be ported to Northrend.” Players spammed chat, and more Death Knights landed.

Rollback & Aftermath

The server crashed, and when it returned, all DKs were ported to a custom phase. A GM built a wall around Stormwind, and the Elwynn graveyard was disabled.

Legacy

The plague launch became legendary. Screenshots show level 55 DKs in full armor, hovering over a burning Goldshire.
